GAME DAY ROUTINES

 

Host league is responsible to provide

            Public address system, announcer, National Anthem, Little League pledge

            Official scorekeeper

            Field ready for play and correctly lined

            Baseballs / softballs

 

Fields have been approved by District before tournament begins.

District will provide

            Tournament director

            Umpires

 

Pre-game routine: varies based on time and weather conditions

            before game starts                   Activity

            120 to 90 minutes                   Host team (3b dugout) takes batting practice

              90 to 60 minutes                   Travel team (1b dugout) takes batting practice

              60 to 45 minutes                   Host team gives affidavit and lineup takes infield practice

              45 to 30 minutes                   Travel team gives affidavit and lineup takes infield practice

              30 to 20 minutes                   Pre-game meeting for coaches, umpires, director

                                                                        Substitutions, mandatory play

Coin toss for home team – called by travel team

              20 to 10 minutes                   Final field preparations

              10 to   5 minutes                   Introductions

                                                                        Visiting team: players, coaches, officers

                                                                        Home team:     players, coaches, officers

                                                                        Dignitaries (town or Little League officials, etc.)

                                                                        Umpires ( district selects neutral umpires)

               5 minutes                         National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, Little League pledge

            Game starts                        UMPIRES TAKE CHARGE – ALWAYS START ON TIME

 

Collection by host team usually after third inning. All monies collected go to host team.

the host league will pass among you to receive your contributions. Little Leaguers are most grateful for your generous support. This money enables us to continue our program for Little League with its appeal to your sons and daughters. Thank you

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR

 

                Responsible that rules are observed

            Answer questions, mediate possible protests; resolve issue before next pitch

            Phone results to newspaper and to district for wider distribution

Arrive 1 hour before game:

Host team in 3b dugout, travel team in 1b dugout

            Assure field is fit for play, direct any corrections needed

            Establish printed pre-game activity schedule (adjust for time or weather)

            Check on medical emergency procedures and first aid-kits

            Is public address system working, is there an announcer, is there a scorekeeper

Before any  team takes infield practice:

            Talk to team, “expect a good game”, warning for unsportsmanlike conduct and cursing

            Manager provides 2 copies of lineup, one for scorer and one for other team

            Assure players are on affidavit, check pitcher eligibility for pre-game meeting

Check name spelling and pronunciation

Write up game sheet for announcer, later for newspaper

-Pre-game meeting coaches and umpires: Only 2 coaches if less than 13 players.

-Umpires are in charge during the game, coaches ask umpires to ask for Tournament Director

-Keep game moving toward completion – remind umpires to keep things moving.

- Update managers with pitch count totals after each ˝ inning.

-Watch substitutions; notify manager if mandatory play not done by end of third inning.

-Remind host league about collection (league keeps all monies)

            (2) if Randy not available, call East Region 1-860-585-4730 ask for director on duty.

            Resolve issues before the next pitch.

Forfeits are granted only by Tournament Committee.

Before rescheduling any game, call Randy 610-972-1458, to avoid schedule disruptions.

After Game:

            Announce next games for each team: date – time – location

            Update affidavit with scores, pitchers, innings pitched and next eligibility date.

Sign affidavit, have manager review & initial affidavit when it is returned

                        You may leave a message with game data and a call back number if I have questions.

Phone results to papers, data you will need:

                        Division (9/10, major, junior, senior) then baseball or softball

                        Team scores (by inning and total)

                        Home runs, pitchers & catchers names and inning, game stars both teams

                        Date- time- location of next games for these teams
